About Suzanne Grantham, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 20 years experience, Suzanne is skilled in psychiatric assessment, medication management and psychotherapy. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, Suzanne believes strongly in a collaborative approach to treatment planning and shared decision making with clients. She enjoys working closely with psychotherapists and other healthcare providers that are caring for her clients to achieve the best outcomes.
Suzanne’s areas of specialty include Treatment-Resistant Depression, Bipolar-Spectrum disorders, and Anxiety Disorders. She is also passionate about treating ADHD. Suzanne has extensive training in EMDR – a form of psychotherapy originally developed for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – and also has training in Collaborative Therapy and Experiential Therapy models
Suzanne is excited to add ketamine-assisted therapy to the treatments she provides. In addition, she is also in the process of completing MAPS training for MDMA-Assisted Therapy and hopes to become one of the first providers of psychedelic-assisted therapy in Austin, once these treatments become FDA-Approved.
Suzanne earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University in 2002 and was named outstanding student of the year upon graduation. She was appointed clinical fellow and lecturer at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and began her career by establishing a community mental health practice within a primary care clinic for Medicaid and uninsured clients in Murfreesboro, TN.
Suzanne and her husband relocated to Austin in 2005, and she began a private adult psychiatric practice focusing on psychotherapy and psychiatric mediation management. Suzanne was active as a primary state representative for psychiatric advanced practice nurses for many years, and was among the the top three finalists for Texas Nurse Practitioners' "Nurse Practitioner of the Year" in 2010 and 2012. She was also voted "Best of West Lake Hills" for psychotherapy in 2019 and 2021.
Suzanne is devoted to keeping up with the latest research by frequently attending conferences, and honing psychotherapy skills with continued training and consultation.
